Bio

Raúl was born in Colombia and found his passion when he first had contact with horses as a young kid.

At 9 years old, he made his first entry into a dressage competition arena and he kept on doing it until today.

In 2002 he makes the decision to set aside his career as an industrial engineer to become a professional dressage trainer and rider. In 2005, he began to represent Colombia at international games as part of the national team, obtaining several medals for his country.

In 2012 he went abroad to Hamburg, Germany to train with Thomas von Samson and competed across europe as part of the preparation in the search of one spot for the Olympic Games in London. Unfortunately, two months before the games, his horse went lame and they had to withdraw from the process.

After that, he began to train with Patrick Burssens and Ulla Salzgeber to go to the Pan American Games in Toronto, where he had a very good performance.

In November of 2015 Raul became Colombian National Champion winning the three gold medals.

In January of 2016 he moved with his wife to Wellington, Florida to start Paramount Horses, a horse sales business, with Patrick and Marisol Burssens and to train horses and riders.

One of his greatest skills is to train young horses to become competitive, by inspiring them with confidence and taking them to develop their full potential.

As trainer he is demanding and committed but warm at the same time. These qualities have taken his students to develop a closer relationship with him and to obtain great achievements at nationals and internationals competitions.

His horsemanship and life values are an example for those who know him.
